Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ Still Awaiting Release, Producer Shares Latest Update
The release of Jana Nayagan continues to remain uncertain as the film awaits final approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). On Sunday, producer K Venkat Narayana confirmed that the project will arrive in theatres only after the certification process is completed.
The update came on the same day actor and politician Vijay officially took charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu during a major ceremony held in Chennai.
While speaking to reporters at the event, Narayana said the makers are prepared for release and are currently waiting for the green signal from the censor board.
Certification Delay Continues to Affect Film
The film was initially planned for a Pongal 2026 release, but certification-related issues forced the makers to postpone its theatrical launch.
Sources in the industry claim that the film had earlier gone through review by the CBFC examining committee, where several edits were reportedly suggested before approval could be granted. After making the recommended changes, the team submitted the revised version again.
However, further objections linked to some portions of the film allegedly led to another review stage, slowing the process even more.
The long delay has reportedly impacted marketing schedules, distribution agreements and overseas release planning. Online piracy concerns also emerged during the waiting period.
Production House Congratulates Vijay
Soon after the election victory, KVN Productions publicly congratulated Vijay through social media, calling the moment special for both politics and cinema.
Many fans are emotionally attached to the project because it is expected to be Vijay’s final appearance on the big screen before shifting full-time into public service and politics.
Strong Star Cast Builds Buzz
Along with Vijay, the film features Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju and Bobby Deol in key roles.
Interest around the movie has remained high despite the delay, with fans regularly demanding updates from the makers online.
