Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has delivered a strong opening at the Indian box office, collecting ₹45.70 crore on its first day, according to TrackTollywood data. With impressive audience turnout across multiple languages, the film is now approaching the ₹50 crore milestone.

Superstar Rajinikanth is back on the big screen as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, and the response to Jailer 2 has given the film a promising start. Released in theatres on October 15, 2026, the action drama has attracted audiences across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada markets.

According to figures reported by TrackTollywood, the film recorded an estimated ₹45.70 crore in domestic collections on Day 1. Its reported occupancy stood at 49.8%, with screenings across 3,160 theatres in 1,247 cities.

The film sold more than 21 lakh tickets on its opening day, reflecting strong initial demand. With this start, attention is now on whether the Rajinikanth-starrer can cross ₹50 crore in India.

Jailer 2 Day 1 Collection: Language-Wise Breakdown

The Tamil version contributed the largest share of the film’s opening-day earnings. Telugu also recorded a notable collection, while the Hindi and Kannada versions added to the overall total.

Here is the reported language-wise breakdown:

LanguageDay 1 Collection
Tamil₹34.07 crore
Telugu₹8.90 crore
Hindi₹2.40 crore
Kannada₹33.15 lakh
Total reported₹45.70 crore

Tamil audiences accounted for the biggest portion of the opening-day business, while the Telugu version also made a substantial contribution. The film’s performance in Hindi-speaking markets and other regions will be important in determining its overall domestic run.

State-Wise Box Office Collection

Tamil Nadu led the reported state-wise collections, followed by Karnataka and Kerala. The film also generated business in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

StateReported Collection
Tamil Nadu₹13.81 crore
Karnataka₹10.79 crore
Kerala₹8.38 crore
Telangana₹4.66 crore
Andhra Pradesh₹4.48 crore
Maharashtra₹1.05 crore

Other states, including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, also contributed to the opening-day total.

These figures are based on the reported TrackTollywood data and may vary as box office estimates are updated.

Advance Booking Shows Strong Demand

Advance bookings have also indicated considerable interest in Jailer 2. According to the same data source, the film recorded ₹15.36 crore in advance bookings in India for its October 16 shows.

The report listed more than 7.96 lakh tickets sold across 11,786 shows in 2,636 theatres and 1,069 cities. Reported occupancy stood at 22.1%, with 182 houseful shows and 1,663 shows filling quickly.

The advance booking figures suggest that audience interest is continuing beyond the opening day. Actual collections on subsequent days will help determine whether the film can maintain its momentum.

What Is Jailer 2 About?

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer.

The story brings back Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired officer who finds himself drawn into a dangerous confrontation involving criminal networks and threats to his family. The sequel continues the action-driven narrative established in the first film.

Alongside Rajinikanth, the cast includes SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan and Yogi Babu, among others. Several prominent actors are also expected to feature in cameo appearances.

The film has been released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada, giving it access to audiences across several major Indian film markets.

Can Jailer 2 Cross ₹50 Crore on Day 1?

With its reported opening collection of ₹45.70 crore, Jailer 2 is within reach of the ₹50 crore mark. It needs approximately ₹4.30 crore more to reach that figure.

However, whether the film crosses the milestone depends on the finalised opening-day numbers and the collection figures included in the estimate. Its performance over the following weekend will also be important for its overall box office prospects.

For now, Rajinikanth’s latest outing has made a strong start, and the focus remains on its next round of collections.

Note: Box office figures mentioned in this report are estimates attributed to TrackTollywood, as cited in the source material. Final figures may differ.
