Xiaomi Unveils Its Flagship Xiaomi 17 & 17 Ultra With Leica Cameras and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Barcelona, Spain — Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship lineup — the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra — marking its big global debut ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026. The new series aims to push the boundaries in performance, imaging and battery life in the premium smartphone segment.
What’s New in the Xiaomi 17 Series
At the heart of both devices is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, built on a cutting-edge 3nm process that promises top-tier speed, efficiency and AI performance for gaming, multitasking and everyday use.
Xiaomi 17
- Display: 6.3-inch LTPO OLED with bright visuals.
- Battery: 6,330 mAh with fast charging support.
- Cameras: Triple 50 MP Leica-tuned system including wide, telephoto and ultra-wide sensors; plus a 50 MP selfie shooter.
- Positioning: Compact flagship designed as a rival to other premium models with balanced performance and imaging.
- Starting Price: Around €999 (roughly ₹1,07,400).
Xiaomi 17 Ultra
- Display: Large 6.9-inch OLED with adaptive refresh.
- Battery: Around 6,800 mAh with fast charging.
- Camera System: Stand-out 200 MP periscope telephoto lens, 50 MP main sensor (1-inch type), plus 50 MP ultra-wide and front cameras — all co-developed with Leica to boost photography quality.
- Price: Around €1,499 (circa ₹1,61,100).
Leica Partnership Goes Deeper
This launch further expands Xiaomi’s collaboration with German imaging legend Leica — now under a “Strategic Co-creation Model” — bringing professional-grade photo tools and Leica signature colour science directly to smartphones.
Global and India Launch
Both phones have been unveiled globally and are set for roll-out in select markets, including a confirmed India launch from March 11, 2026. India pricing for local variants will be announced closer to availability.
Extra Ecosystem Products
Alongside the new phones, Xiaomi also showcased accessories and ecosystem devices such as the Leica-branded Leitzphone, premium tablets and other hardware to complement the 17 series.
