Nationwide Civil Defence Mock Drill on May 7: Full List of Cities by State

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced a massive civil defence exercise across 259 districts on May 7, 2025, to test the preparedness against “new and complex threats”. Here’s a state-wise list of all the locations where mock drills will take place.

The cities are categorized into three priority levels:

  • Category-I: High Priority
  • Category-II: Medium Priority
  • Category-III: Low Priority

States and Cities Where Mock Drills Will Be Held

1. Andaman & Nicobar Islands

  • Port Blair – Category-I

2. Andhra Pradesh

  • Visakhapatnam – Category-I

3. Arunachal Pradesh

  • Alog (West Siang) – Category-I
  • Itanagar – Category-I
  • Tawang – Category-I
  • Bomdila – Category-III

4. Assam

  • Multiple cities under Category-I including:
    • Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Sibsagar
  • Category-II cities include:
    • Darrang, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar

5. Bihar

  • Patna, Barauni, Katihar, Begusarai, Purnea – Category-I

6. Chandigarh

  • Chandigarh – Category-I

7. Chhattisgarh

  • Durg (Bhilai) – Category-I

8. Dadra & Nagar Haveli

  • Silvasa – Category-I

9. Daman & Diu

  • Daman – Category-I

10. Delhi

  • Delhi NCR (including New Delhi & Cantonment) – Category-I

11. Goa

  • North Goa (Panaji) – Category-I
  • South Goa (Vasco, Mormugao) – Category-I

12. Gujarat

  • Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Kandla – Category-I
  • Category-II cities include:
    • Bharuch, Kutch, Navsari, Mehsana

13. Haryana

  • Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rohtak, Panipat, Ambala, Sirsa – Category-I
  • Jhajjar – Category-II

14. Himachal Pradesh

  • Shimla – Category-I

15. Jammu & Kashmir

  • High-priority cities include:
    • Srinagar, Anantnag, Jammu, Baramulla, Pulwama, Uri, Kupwara, Poonch

16. Jharkhand

  • Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Gomio – Category-I
  • Sahebganj, Godda – Category-II

17. Karnataka

  • Bengaluru (Urban), Malleshwaram, Raichur – Category-I

18. Kerala

  • Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi – Category-I

19. Lakshadweep

  • Kavaratti – Category-I

20. Madhya Pradesh

  • Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Katni – Category-I

21. Maharashtra

  • Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Tarapur, Uran – Category-I
  • Category-II: Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg

22. Manipur

  • Imphal, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Moreh – Category-I

23. Meghalaya

  • Shillong, Tura, Jawai – Category-I

24. Mizoram

  • Aizawl – Category-I

25. Nagaland

  • All major cities like Dimapur, Kohima, Tuensang, Mon, Wokha – Category-I

26. Odisha

  • Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Paradip, Balasore, Talcher – Category-I
  • Category-II: Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara

27. Puducherry

  • Puducherry – Category-I

28. Punjab

  • Cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Mohali, Pathankot – Category-I

29. Rajasthan

  • Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Alwar, Udaipur, Bharatpur – Category-I

30. Sikkim

  • Gangtok – Category-I

31. Tamil Nadu

  • Chennai, Kalpakkam – Category-I

32. Telangana

  • Hyderabad – Category-I

33. Tripura

  • Agartala – Category-I

34. Uttar Pradesh

  • Key cities include:
    • Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Meerut – Category-I

35. Uttarakhand

  • Dehradun – Category-I

36. West Bengal

  • Kolkata, Darjeeling, Siliguri, Howrah, Durgapur, Malda, Haldia, Jalpaiguri – Category-I

Purpose of the Mock Drill

These drills are a precautionary and preparedness measure in light of the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, and growing regional tensions. The aim is to:

  • Test and improve civil defence mechanisms
  • Ensure coordination between local authorities and emergency responders
  • Educate and train civilians for emergency scenarios
