Recent History of Violence at Golden Temple
This isn’t the first violent incident at the Golden Temple. In December 2024, former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal survived an assassination attempt while performing sewa (service) as an act of penance for past political mistakes.
The attacker, Narain Singh Chaura, was later identified as the mastermind behind the 2004 Burail jailbreak in Chandigarh and had multiple terror-related cases against him.
Authorities on High Alert
Following the recent violence, security has been heightened around the Golden Temple premises. The authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack and ensuring strict action against those responsible.
