Dacoit: A Love Story Box Office Collection – Adivi Sesh & Mrunal Thakur Starrer Ends Opening Weekend at ₹34.77 Crore Worldwide; Struggles to Recover ₹65 Crore Budget
Mumbai, April 13, 2026: Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur’s much-awaited bilingual action-romance Dacoit: A Love Story has registered a decent but underwhelming opening weekend at the Indian box office. Directed by debutant Shaneil Deo, the film — shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi — collected a total of ₹34.77 crore gross worldwide in its first three days, according to leading tracker Sacnilk.
The movie, which released on April 10, 2026 (Friday), earned ₹19.80 crore net in India across its opening weekend. This translates to an India gross of approximately ₹23.12 crore. Overseas markets added another ₹11.65 crore, taking the global tally to ₹34.77 crore.
Day-Wise India Net Collections (as per Sacnilk & industry trackers):
- Day 1 (Friday, April 10): ₹6.50 crore net
- Day 2 (Saturday, April 11): ₹7.00 – 7.50 crore net (slight growth)
- Day 3 (Sunday, April 12): ₹6.40 crore net
The film witnessed a healthy 41% occupancy in Telugu shows on Day 1 but saw only 12% in Hindi circuits. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remained the strongest territories, contributing the bulk of the collections, while Hindi-speaking markets and other regions showed muted response.
Industry experts note that Dacoit has delivered the 4th highest opening of 2026 for a Telugu film, surpassing the Day 1 numbers of Adivi Sesh’s previous release HIT: The Second Case. However, with a reported budget of ₹65 crore, the film is currently recovering only around 30% of its cost in the first weekend and is heading toward a disappointing theatrical run unless it picks up significantly in the coming weekdays.
Positive word-of-mouth around the film’s twists and Adivi Sesh’s performance helped it maintain steady footfalls on Saturday, but mixed reviews and competition from other releases have limited its growth. The production house Annapurna Studios has confirmed that overseas collections have crossed the $1 million mark, with strong numbers from North America.
