RCB Women Squad Update: Chloe Tryon and Jess Jonassen Strengthen Bengaluru’s Line-up

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women have added more experience and all-round options to their squad, with Chloe Tryon and Jess Jonassen among the notable additions at the auction. The franchise has retained its core group, including Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh, while making a few targeted changes to its team composition.

According to the available squad details, RCB Women have spent ₹14.95 crore in total, including ₹13.85 crore on retentions and ₹1.10 crore on auction purchases. The team currently has 17 players, with ₹5 lakh remaining in its purse.

RCB Women Spend Almost Their Entire Budget

RCB Women have used most of their available budget to maintain continuity and strengthen selected areas of the squad. The team includes 11 Indian players and six overseas players, reaching its overseas-player limit.

The franchise’s approach suggests that it wanted to preserve its established core rather than make significant changes across the squad. With only one squad position remaining and a limited purse, further additions will be difficult without changes to the existing composition.

Chloe Tryon and Jess Jonassen Join the Squad

South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon was signed for ₹30 lakh, while Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen joined for ₹40 lakh. Both players give RCB additional options with bat and ball.

Tryon’s power-hitting could be useful in the middle and lower order, while Jonassen brings international experience and left-arm spin. Their inclusion gives the team more flexibility when selecting its playing XI.

RCB also showed interest in Sophie Molineux but withdrew from the bidding at ₹1.05 crore. Jonassen’s arrival adds another experienced spin-bowling all-rounder to the squad, although the two players offer different strengths.

Mandhana, Perry and Ghosh Remain Key Players

Smriti Mandhana, retained for ₹3.5 crore, will continue to be an important part of RCB’s batting plans. Her performances at the top of the order could play a major role in setting the team’s tempo.

Ellyse Perry, retained for ₹2 crore, offers experience and contributions in both batting and bowling. Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, retained for ₹2.75 crore, provides an attacking presence in the middle order and an important role behind the stumps.

Georgia Voll, signed for ₹60 lakh, adds another overseas batting option, while Tejal Hasabnis and Vrinda Dinesh provide additional Indian batting depth.

Bowling Combination Remains an Area to Watch

RCB Women have several options in their bowling department, including Lauren Bell, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav. The squad also features all-rounders such as Shreyanka Patil, Nadine de Klerk and Jonassen, who can contribute with the ball.

However, the team has only four players listed under the specialist bowlers category. This could make the contribution of its all-rounders particularly important during the season.

The team’s final balance will depend on player availability, pitch conditions and how effectively the management combines its pace and spin options.

RCB Women Squad at a Glance

  • Total squad size: 17 players
  • Indian players: 11
  • Overseas players: 6
  • Retention expenditure: ₹13.85 crore
  • Auction expenditure: ₹1.10 crore
  • Total spending: ₹14.95 crore
  • Remaining purse: ₹5 lakh

What Lies Ahead for RCB?

RCB Women have retained several established performers and added depth through the signings of Tryon and Jonassen. Their squad offers a mix of international experience, Indian talent and players capable of contributing in multiple departments.

The main task for the team management will be to settle on a balanced playing combination, particularly in the bowling department. If the senior players deliver consistently and the new additions adapt well, RCB could have a strong foundation for the upcoming WPL campaign.

The squad and financial figures in this report are based on the details provided and should be checked against official franchise or tournament announcements before publication.
