Yash’s Toxic Opens With Over Rs 100 Crore in India, Ranks Behind Dhurandhar 2

Yash’s much-awaited action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has made a powerful start at the box office. The Geetu Mohandas directorial earned more than Rs 100 crore nett in India on its opening day, according to industry tracking data.

The film reportedly collected around Rs 101 crore nett in India, while its worldwide Day 1 gross stood at approximately Rs 140 crore.

Hindi Version Leads the Opening

The Hindi market played a major role in Toxic’s first-day performance. The Hindi version contributed around Rs 55 crore nett, making it the film’s strongest-performing language version.

The original Kannada version added approximately Rs 25 crore nett, while the Telugu dubbed version contributed around Rs 11 crore nett.

The strong performance across multiple language markets helped the film achieve one of the biggest domestic openings of the year.

Toxic Misses Dhurandhar 2’s Record

Despite its impressive debut, Toxic could not claim the biggest Indian opening of 2026.

The film reportedly opened with Rs 101 crore nett in India, placing it just behind Dhurandhar 2, which registered around Rs 103 crore nett on its first day.

On the worldwide front, the gap was considerably larger. Dhurandhar 2 reportedly earned around Rs 205 crore gross globally on Day 1, while Toxic managed approximately Rs 140 crore.

Second-Biggest Worldwide Opening for Kannada Cinema

Toxic has nevertheless created a major milestone for Kannada cinema.

With a worldwide opening of around Rs 140 crore, the Yash-led film is now reported to have the second-biggest Day 1 worldwide opening in Kannada film history.

The top position continues to belong to Yash’s own KGF: Chapter 2, which opened globally with approximately Rs 164 crore.

Toxic Beats Several Bollywood Blockbusters

Although Toxic could not overtake Dhurandhar 2, its opening still puts it ahead of several major Hindi blockbusters when their worldwide Day 1 numbers are compared.

The film’s reported Rs 140 crore opening is higher than the first-day worldwide figures of Pathaan (around Rs 104 crore), Animal (around Rs 116 crore), Adipurush (around Rs 127 crore) and Jawan (around Rs 129 crore).

Its overseas contribution, however, was relatively limited, with the film earning a little over US$2 million internationally on its first day.

Star-Studded Cast

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Yash in the lead role and has an ensemble cast that includes Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.

With a strong opening across India, the next few days will be crucial for determining whether Toxic can maintain its momentum and challenge the year’s biggest box-office performers.
